Multi-Leveling Marketing

Multi-level marketing, also called Pyramid Schemes or Ponzi Schemes, are based on the idea of making money quickly by recruiting others. Entry into the scheme usually involves an initial payment or investment units and earnings are based on the introduction of others into the scheme. In an attempt to circumvent the law, schemes are veiled under the pretense of offering legitimate services such as travel search engines, etc, but all are centered around getting others involved in the fraudulent scheme. Only the very top tiers of the scheme typically make any money, the remainder usually left out of pocket.

Involvement in a pyramid scheme may be contrary to the Consumer Protection Act and / or the Criminal Code and carries a significant term of imprisonment.
